RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:
What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Jackie E, also know as @thetubbyeffect on IG. Jackie does amazing content on IG and always graces us with her bubbly personality, let’s hear what Respect Female Sneakerheads means to her!

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
I believe that the lack of female representation in the sneaker community depicts that there is simultaneously a lack of respect for the ideas, artistry, and presence of women in that space. To me, Respect Female Sneakerheads serves as a necessary reminder to everyone that we belong and are needed in this community while concurrently providing a space for women to be highlighted and celebrated for our ingenious and trend-setting styles.
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
One woman that I look up to in the sneaker community is Melissa Chanel. Not only does she have a heart of gold but she also created a community celebrating black and brown women who love sneakers. She has stayed true to her passion while creating a solution for a dearth that she saw in the sneaker community. Not to mention her sneaker style is unmatched! Have y’all seen her kick line up ?! lol She’s truly an inspiration!
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
If I could change one thing about how women
are treated in the sneaker community it would be the fact that we as women find ourselves constantly having to prove that we belong in this space. We are continuously having to change the narrative that women can love and wear sneakers too. Feeling like we have to incessantly “earn” the respect of our male counterparts in the sneaker community is tiring! We deserve not only an invitation to these tables but our own table at this point. We are brilliant , creative, and have the most innovative minds you will ever meet. To not have us at the table or include our ideas in the conceptualization of releases and sneaker design is neglecting a major part of the sneaker consumer population .
