Meet Cassidy

RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Cassidy, an awesome mom and the managing editor of CNK Daily. CNK Daily is a black owned brand serving women in street wear and sneakers.

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

It means cultivating an inclusive space for women’s voices to be heard. I love that the message is so clear and that we’re understanding the power of a unified front in sneaker/streetwear spaces. Our stories, passions, and experiences have helped mold this space for years. We aren’t new to the game.

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

Wow, there are sooo many amazing women doing things to elevate the sneaker community. If I had to choose one today, I’d say @imsimplyB. She is an OG when it comes to sneakers and has created some amazing products for the sneaker community. Most importantly, she uses her platform to bring women to the forefront and keeps it real with real advocacy for seasoned and novice sneaker lovers.

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

I am a big proponent of representation in the sneaker community. There are endless ways that sneakers create community and representation has to start in the board room. From there, it can trickle down to management and more creative roles within sneaker brands. Women are so multifaceted, we can’t be pigeonholed to one thing in sneakers. The more young Black and brown girls that can see themselves in sneaker jobs and campaigns, the better we stay rooted in connection and authenticity for the long haul.

Meet Cay

Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Cay, also known as @kicks4fresh on Instagram. She is also the owner of FRESH KREATIONZ CLOTHING!

@kicks4fresh

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Great question Tay! Respect female sneakerheads means exactly what it says. Respect us, highlight us, give us credit on our innovative ideas, FRESH FITS and trends set, let us know we belong in the sneaker community, and serve as our allies. I get so much hate from MEN on my sneaker Instagram page about MY choice to wear sneakers over “heels/cute womanly sandals…” that it becomes very tiring and truly annoying. We must collectively work to change the narrative to become more inclusive of our interests and how we choose to express ourselves through footwear.

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

There are many women in the sneaker community that I look up to. Far too many to name and I don’t want to leave anyone out. What I will say is that most are your everyday baddies such as all my black and brown sole sistas on Instagram. Everyone’s style is unique; they all have great personalities, and they way we support each other with securing these pairs baybbeee is it AMAZING! I love us and so thankful for the camaraderie built.

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

I wish people would stop assuming our sexual orientation and our knowledge (or lack of) when it comes to sneakers. Far too many times, we are unfairly stereotyped and labeled JUST BECAUSE WE WEAR SNEAKERS!!! Like c’mon now, they do know sneakers come in women’s sizing, right? Let it be known, we’re not tolerating this in 2022.

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Kiara, also known as chicinsneaks on IG. Kiara is a woman who not only has genuine love for sneakers but also has a way of telling a story; her story telling captures you and keeps you coming back for more owith each series she drops. Check out what she has to say when it comes to Respect Female Sneakerheads

@chicinsneaks

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Personally, it means we deserve seats at allllll of the tables. Content wise, board room, design and storytelling. Respect our ideas, our sneaker closets and us as women in general. Afford women the same opportunities to enhance the brands that we patronize so heavily. We shouldn’t have to prove why we deserve space here.

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

I pull inspiration from so many women, but the ones that are top of mind are Kimmiski @kimmiskiart, Passion @_artdealher, Mo @mobumbbbaaa, Janyne @sneakervibesonly, Ny @solelyaboutnyyyy, Lee @iknowlee, Kia @thenotoriouskia.

There are so many talented ass women in this space that offer more than a good outfit. Don’t get me wrong, we love a good lewk..but I also appreciate how these women appear to incorporate their authentic selves into their content. This space is filled with women that empower each other, use their gifts and serve as inspiration to others along the way. I love to see it and I’m glad I’m gang!

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

As a creative, we are multifaceted and all have so many different interests. Don’t put us in a box or have a limited expectation about what we bring to this space. Every woman is unique in her choice of expression, style and content. Being a Black woman, we know this culture would not exist without us. Appreciate the flavors we serve on a regular!

Release Date: First lauchned by Nike in 2009

Price: pricing varies

Features:

Since the original release in 2009 of the Nike Lunarglide, there have been improvements made to the now popular running shoe. The shoes major improvements were shown the most with the release of the Nike Lunarglide 4 in 2012 and since then the most recent design is the Nike Lunarglide 8. This shoe was promised to be lightweight, deliver stability, and provide exceptional cushioning. One of the most effective features that really stood out was the sole of the shoe which contains lunarlite foam that was originally developed by NASA. This shoe is not only ideal for runners but also comfortable for everyday wear; I own 3 pairs of the Nike Lunarglide 5 so I definitely recommend the shoe! To anyone who is into running I also recommend reading more about each shoe to determine which one is best for you!
