Meet Ja’Da Brayboy

RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Ja’Da, a woman with a fire collection, dope style, and super creative (check out her business where she makes any customs you need). Let’s see what respect female sneakerheads means to her!

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Respect female sneakerheads means to me that, women shouldn’t feel neglected in the sneaker community solely because sneakers are generalized as a masculine thing/product. Women, just as much as men or maybe even more, are into sneakers and fashion too! Also, a women shouldn’t be looked at as less feminine strictly because she would rather rock some sneakers rather than heels or flats on any given day.

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

Aleali May — I love the way she takes streetwear and add that luxury feel on to it while still making it feminine and making a statement! The details are always immaculate in every drop and story and it’s really inspiring because that’s how I look at my brand. Streetwear but make it luxeeee.

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

One thing that I would change, actually 2, are the perception that women are masculine, or “tomboys”. I feel the sneaker game is heavily male dominated, so people often forget about the female sneakerheads. This platform is great for the women who rather wear sneakers or men’s clothes and really put that shit on and feel comfortable while doing it. I wish these bigger companies would give women more opportunities to showcase their love for sneakers and fashion. Also, including women’s full size runs on all sneakers and not just select ones. James Whitner does a phenomenal job highlighting women in all of his work and I love that. I wish others would follow suit.

Hearing these words from different women in the sneaker community is so inspiring! Each lady brings a different view point and perspective. Ja’Da hits on a good point, the treatment and perception needs to change when it comes to women who love sneakers! I hope my blog can help give more women the voice they deserve and to be seen in a way they deserve!
