Meet Ayana Avery

RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Ayana also known as @wheadacashat_ on IG. Ayana is an amazing creator with a dope style, let’s see what respect female sneakerheads means to her.

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

I feel like women are sometimes put inside a box with a lot of Dos & Don’t. Especially when it comes to us expressing ourselves through clothing or sneakers. With the way the sneaker game is now, I feel like women are starting to dominate, there are more sneaker collabs happening, more women are given opportunities to be featured with more brands. It is longggg overdue.

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

This is very hard, because there are several women I could use. But right now one of my favorites definitely has to be @mobumbbbaaa I remember first running across her page & thinking wow she is so dope and shows love to EVERYBODY. Just seeing how much she has grown with her platform, the deals she has secured and then her giving women a platform to express ourselves with @oursoles. It’s been dope & has helped me to network with other female sneaker heads.

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

I would say to give women more opportunities especially the masculine feminine women. Just because we dress like tomboys doesn’t mean we should be excluded from opportunities. Women are some of the most versatile when it comes to fashion bc we can dress it up or down in men’s or women’s clothing and it’s going to look good.

Hearing these words from different women in the sneaker community is so inspiring! Each lady brings a different view point and perspective. Ayana definitely hit on a very good point, we cannot exclude masculine presenting women, they deserve opportunities too! I hope my blog can help give more women the voice they deserve and to be seen in a way they deserve!
