RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:
What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear Nia, a host, storyteller, creator, on air talent, and CEO! Let’s see what respect female sneakerheads means to her!

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
I believe it means to respect us as women and trailblazers. Oftentimes, society tries to put us in a box and tell us that we can’t do certain “things” because we’re women. Our shoe game, our style, and our flavor are our own, and being a sneakerhead should have no gender limitations.
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
One woman I look up to is Jazerai Allen-Lord. She’s so stylish, fly, and cool, and has one of the best sneaker collections I’ve ever seen. Not only that, Jaz is a BOSS. She’s not afraid to step out of the norm and create her own lane. She’s a mother and a leader in her community. She’s inspired me in so many ways, not just on the sneakerhead level but as a woman in the entertainment industry as well.
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
If I could change one thing, I think the assumptions and limitations are out on us to fit into society’s “boxes” to fit in and be “normal.” Just because I wear sneakers doesn’t mean I’m not feminine or want to be like a man. Fashion is about self-expression and being comfortable with who you are and what you represent. I believe society is finally coming around to respecting the women’s sneakerhead community more, but we still have a long way to go. Oh, also, we know our kicks and what we are talking about!

Hearing these words from different women in the sneaker community is so inspiring! Each lady brings a different view point and perspective. Nia definitely hit on a good point, we don’t have to fit in to what society deems as “normal”; I can be feminine and wear sneakers! I hope my blog can help give more women the voice they deserve and to be seen in a way they deserve!
