RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:
What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Sydnee also known as @delaluckee . Sydnee gives the people amazing looks with sneakers, she never disappoints! Let’s see what respect female sneakerheads means to her!

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
In my opinion and very simply put…respecting female sneaker heads means equality. A level playing field would be nice. Let’s be honest women, more specifically black women, are the archetype for most fashion trends. So we should be treated with a higher level of regard.
Who is one woman in the sneaker
community you look up to and why?
Without a doubt Melissa Chanel! Not only does she effortlessly style her kicks but she’s using her platform to bring awareness to the female sneaker community. Did I mention that her fashions are crazy?!
If you could change one thing about
how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, What would it be?
The belief that as a woman my love for sneakers can’t be organic. I’m approached a lot by folks with the impression that a man “put me on” or plugged me in. No my man didn’t buy me these, I hit on the SNKRS app by the grace of God just like you LOL. There’s this void in our community because the sneaker culture is such a male dominated hobby. It’s hard to maintain a love affair with kicks when my IG feed is filled with men profiling in releases I don’t have a chance to get because I wear a 6Y. Making sneaker releases GENDER NEUTRAL would be great but we have a better chance of our student loans being forgiven.

Hearing these words from different women in the sneaker community is so inspiring! Each lady brings a different view point and perspective. Sydnee definitely hit on a good point about people assuming that a man put us on to sneakers, when that’s never the case. The sneaker community being male dominated does not mean they have a hand in women being into sneakers. I hope my blog can help give more women the voice they deserve and to be seen in a way they deserve!
