Meet Ashley Arita

RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Ashley also known as ashjaceall on IG Ashley us not only a sneakerhead buy a woman who does so much for her community! She also uses her IG to provide knowledge on many different topics that people need to know about and be informed about! Let’s see what respect female sneakerheads means to her!

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

To me respect female sneakerheads means to allow women to have a voice in a space that is male dominated. It’s incredible how many men are easily threatened or intimidated by women in the sneaker community when instead of trying to undermine them, they should be embracing women in the space.

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

This question is really hard because there’s so many women that deserve the recognition and they don’t receive it but one woman who is truly a force is Ms. Jazerai (@nerdlikejazzy). That woman is so powerful to me- everything she stands for, the opportunities she creates for women, and primarily black women and women of color is just so amazing and beautiful to me.

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

One thing I’d change is the narrative that women are only into sneakers to impress men? I think that narrative is comical because most of the women I follow on here have more knowledge, better style, and can hold better conversations in the space about anything pertaining to sneakers. Women have created opportunities for not only women but men as well yet we’re still not respected, given the time of day, etc. A lot of us, if not the majority, did not decide to cop a sneaker for a man or to impress a man- there’s more substance to women who are sneaker enthusiasts, collectors, etc. and we deserve to be highlighted in the space, we deserve to be respected in general.

@ashjaceall

Hearing these words from different women in the sneaker community is so inspiring! Each lady brings a different view point and perspective. Ashley definitely hit on a good point, women are not into sneakers to impress me and we cannot say that enough!! We are working hard to change that perception that should have never been created in the first place. I hope my blog can help give more women the voice they deserve and to be seen in a way they deserve!
