Meet Kai

RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Kai who always gives us the cutest looks with her sneakers; let’s hear what respect female sneakerheads means to her!

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?

What respecting female sneakerheads means to me is really putting on for the women in our community and giving us a space to use our voices. Our love of shoes is just the first layer that these amazing women share and this is a place of love for all these talented amazing women who have helped motivate me to keep my love of shoes and fashion to carry into my future.

Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?

A woman that inspires me in the sneaker community would definitely be Aleali May. I can relate to her by being a young sneakerhead in California and seeing someone with so much creative potential is inspiring. Seeing a woman having her own projects with such a big brand and having sold out collaborations is the most amazing thing and puts into perspective how things aren’t so incredibly out of reach.

If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?

I want women in the community to be treated as people and not less than. I have been perceived as less knowledgeable than my peers in the sneaker game just because I’m younger and a woman, when really my talent shouldn’t be second guessed for those things. Our voices are needed in creative spaces and being able to have a platform is a blessing for the women around the world who support us. Sharing these experiences and support for each other becomes increasingly important as a puts a new seat at the table for us to be heard. Women make the world go round!

Hearing these words from different women in the sneaker community is so inspiring! Each lady brings a different view point and perspective. Kai definitely hit on a good point, our voices are needed in these creative spaces and always have been! We make such a difference and have such a major impact that it cannot be ignored. I hope my blog can help give more women the voice they deserve and to be seen in a way they deserve!
