RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:
What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Danielle, also known as @danicalifornia10 on IG.

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
Respect to me means respect ALL females who enjoy the love of kicks. It doesn’t matter if they’re just starting their sneaker collection or have been collecting for years. Every one of us had to get a start somewhere. So tired of hearing the “oh you was a baby when MJ wore these” or “you didn’t camp out to get these.” Yes, I was in diapers when MJ started out his career with the Bulls, and no I didn’t camp out. However, that doesn’t make my love for sneakers any less than someone who was around when MJ made “the shot” in ‘89 or camped out for them. Through IG, I have been fortunate enough to speak with sneakerheads from around the world, and not going to lie some of the OGs have been the kindest souls and hype up the newbies.
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
I definitely don’t just have one woman I look up to – I look up to a variety of women. I would say career wise @coop_kel. She is a Merch Director for Nike HQ (omfg goals.) I love her kick collection and how she styles her kicks in a work appropriate way, which has definitely influenced my work style. For women I engage with on IG and who I immediately followed when I saw their profiles are @sneakervibesobly @lefthandglam @key2ursoul. Yo, these women are Queens! Super humble, know their sneakers, and each has a distinct style that I love. I love @sneakervibesonly with her sock collection and just building people up, @lefthandglam has saved me some money by showing me affordable ways to dress up my kicks, and @key2ursole collection is literal fire and she keeps her posts so real.
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
The one thing I would change about how women are perceived in the community is for the ones who are just in it for the resell, the” clout” to wear some Travis’s or Yeezy’s, or my all time favorite the ones who get genuinely mad about a women’s release…please step aside we know who you are and you guys make this so frustrating for people who genuinely love sneakers. We should all be building each other up instead of criticizing every little thing.
