RESPECT! That is what women deserve in the sneaker community so my goal is for you to meet some of these women via my blog so you can get an understanding on how they feel. There are 3 major questions that come to mind for this topic:
What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
Who else is better to learn from then the women within the community? Today we will hear from Aisha, also known as @soleofkicks on Instagram. Aisha has an amazing sneaker collection and she always gives us a good look to go with the sneakers. Let’s see what Respect Female Sneakerheads means to her!

What does respect female sneakerheads mean to you?
To me, Respect Female Sneakerheads means giving women the rightful respect they deserve. It’s in the exact wording. Don’t undermine our intelligence and assume just because we are women you can school us on sneakers. Also don’t question why we are into sneakers and if we really have sneaker knowledge. Speaking as someone who does, it can be offensive but also if someone doesn’t..why do you care? If respect was given to women in general we wouldn’t have to demand it in the sneaker community.
Who is one woman in the sneaker community you look up to and why?
I can’t name one because each day I am being exposed to just how vast this sneaker community of women are. I love to discover us, especially black women who are as myself authentically being ourselves and just so dope in our own way. Some celebs I have always looked up to for their style and contribution to sneakers would hands down be Teyana Taylor and Vashtie Kola. When I was in middle school trying to discover black women who wore sneakers, they were the only two who I felt truly represented me and my love for sneakers, fashion, and streetwear.
If you could change one thing about how women are treated and/or perceived in the sneaker community, what would it be?
I hate how women who wear sneakers are sometimes perceived. When did it become a requirement for all women to wear heels? So I would change the perception many have of women who prefer to wear sneakers. No we didn’t get into sneakers because of a man. No a man isn’t contributing to our collection. Most of us truly put in the footwork to obtain our pairs, mainly taking Ls. Also the statement .. “oh you only have those because you wear a kids size”. GS sizes are selling out faster and have a higher resale value these days. I want there to stop being so many assumptions and more facts being told.
