Modern day Superwoman.
“One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals. And so when I hear about negative and false attacks, I really don’t invest any energy in them, because I know who I am” – Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama
Michele Obama has gracefully been the nations First Lady of the United States for the last 8 years. For 8 years she has dealt with criticism, hateful words, and judgement yet she has never let it bring her down. She does not wear her feelings on her sleeves and she represents the words I was often told by my mother growing up, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me”. Despite all the opposition she has been faced with she still manages to have not one hateful bone in her body.
In life we deal with constant judgement by people who seem to always want to bring us down, never lifting us up when we need to be lifted up. We as people allow the words of others to completely crush our spirits and dreams because we often forget that the words of others do not determine who we are as a person. Life was never promised to be easy but if we choose to live in positivity, blocking out all negativity, we are told this life will indeed be worth it. We have to remember to be strong and live life without fear, the more we fear things the more we hold ourselves back.
Michelle Obama is not only proof that as a woman you can remain confident in yourself despite what others say but also, that real love exists. Loving and supporting your man is important and with GOD, all things, including true, real, genuine love, are possible. For 8 years she did not stand behind her man but beside her man helping him every step of the way and in the words of Barack Obama, “you made the White House a place that belongs to everybody”. As a woman, still growing and learning so many things about herself, I can truly say that for the last 8 years I have been able to watch Michelle Obama and be motivated by her to be great in all that I do. The one thing we can all learn from Michelle Obama is that life is easier and less stressful when we make the decision to love others even when they hate us.
“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear”-Martin Luther King Jr.
