Rachel’s Story…

February 14, 2015 Rachel’s life changed forever.

….. but before then, at the young age of 24, Rachel reached a point in her life, where she just wanted what God wanted for her. She ended a 6 ½ year, on again, off again relationship, a year prior, because simply put, she was TIRED. Doing things on her own and expecting to get different results was getting her nowhere. Rachel knew that she had been selling herself short and that God had better things in store for her life.

How did you and Lance meet?

Lance tells the story that he saw me at church & knew that I sparked his interest; he then began to pray that the Lord would allow him to see me again. Meanwhile, I’m content in my singleness not knowing, that behind the scenes, God was working on my behalf. We officially met at Razoo’s on Valentine’s Day, and honestly it all caught me off guard, from the moment he first spoke to me until we parted ways for the night. AND a year and a few months later he asked me to be his wife.

How did you know Lance was the one?

I’m often asked how did I know that Lance was the one, and my answer is pretty simple. I JUST KNEW. From day one, I prayed about Lance, as he did me, that the Lord would reveal to us our true intentions. We both knew that we wanted to be married and that we were working towards that and if at any time our intentions changed we promised to let the other know. Our relationship is so unique, in the sense that neither one of us was looking for a husband/wife. God allowed a prayer on Lance’s part to be answered & because of that we’ve intentionally made God the head of our relationship. We pray together (over the big & the small things), attend church together, and we actively take an interest in furthering our spiritual growth.

What are 3 key things that are important in your relationship?

Three things that we both would consider to be important in our relationship are Prayer, Communication and Trust. These three things are vital to a successful relationship leading towards marriage. Prayer changes things, Communication allows both people to always stay on the same page and Trust will take your relationship to the next level because without it, your relationship will fail.

What encouraging words of advice would you give someone who feels like love is just not possible for him or her?

Relationships are hard work, but with the right person they are worth it! If I had to give any advice to someone who is at the point of giving up on love, I would say be patient, your time is coming. This generation is used to things happening when and how we want them to. When we think we’re ready God knows that truly we aren’t. Women, don’t search for the “perfect man” because he will come to you. Continue working on yourself & being content in your singlehood. Men, you don’t have to have “arrived “ before wanting to settle down. By trusting in God he will provide EVERYTHING you need to be fully prepared to be a husband.

So in conclusion…..

It is safe to say that we must be patient when it comes to love. This couples love story shows why trusting in GOD is so important. Often times we give up right away when things do not go as planned, but it is important to continue to increase your faith and strengthen your patience. GOD will never leave you nor forsake you. I truly hope this story motivates and encourages someone to wait for what GOD truly has in store for their life. Everyones story is not the same but at the end of the day don’t we all want to experience true love?
